DTE Coke Battery    

Capturing and analyzing dimensional changes in the ovens is critical to estimating and maximizing the life of the battery. Laser scanning was used to capture the battery's dimensions, which were then analyzed to determine what corrective action was required to protect the battery. Laser scanning has distinct advantages over traditional survey - most valuable were completeness of the resulting data, and it's ability to be retrieved at any time for analyzing new areas of interest on the battery. Laser scanning also proved safer, faster and lower-cost than conventional survey. The cost and safety advantages came from needing fewer survey hours, thus less time spent near the battery and moving machinery.
