Easter Island (Rapa Nui)

METCO teamed with Autodesk and Leica Geosystems to provide laser scanning and a GPS survey of Easter Island. The scope included scanning of Moai, caves, a vegetable garden, crematorium, irrigation system, rock splitter and the “Navel of the World.” The team also prepared topographic surveys of key areas for preparing 3D presentations of proposed revitalization for the Chilean Government and Historical Preservation Society. The surveys and scanning data are being used for the planning of infrastructure that will be compatible with historic preservation and continued tourist industry growth.
